
Tinora was hitting from the outside early and took control of the non league Boys Basketball game against Continental on Saturday night. The Rams started the action by putting in a basket which was followed by a 3 by Pirate Mitchell Coleman to give the Pirates the early 3-2 advantage. A pair of 3 by the Rams was followed by a pair of twos by the Pirates with Gavin Huff and Taron Butler hitting the bottom of the net. A three by the Rams was followed by a Huff basket. The Rams closed the first by hitting their 4th three-pointer. Rams 14, Pirates 9.
The second quarter saw the Rams put in 2 3s before Coleman would make a 3 point play for the Pirates. Rams 20, Pirates 12. The Rams would finish off the half scoring by hitting four more 3 pointers. The Rams would hit 10 three-pointers by 6 different players in the first half. Rams 32, Pirates 12 at break.
The Rams would open up the second half scoring by making a 2 which was followed by a basket by Huff. Rams 34, Pirates 14. Two more baskets by the Rams was followed by another Huff basket. A Ram 6 point run would be stopped by a pair of free throws from Coleman. That would be the Pirates last points of the quarter as the Rams would put in 6 more to make it 50-18 Rams after 3.
It was all Rams in the fourth as they would put in 20 points to the Pirates 3. Reed Warnement hit a basket for the Pirates while Wyatt Stauffer made a free throw. Rams 70, Pirates 21 final.
Mitchell Coleman and Gavin Huff led the Pirates with 8 points each. Reed Warnement and Taron Butler both had 2 points while Wyatt Stauffer had 1. Coleman made the only 3 for the Pirates while the Rams put in 12.
Continental falls to 3-18 and will host Pandora Gilboa on Thursday in a Putnam County league game. It will also be Senior night. Tinora improves to 9-12. Tinora took the Junior Varsity game 27-23.
