Top of Order Delivers for Pirate Baseball Over Rockets

May 3, 2026 by Adam Donaldson

Poor field conditions at Pandora led to the Putnam County League game between the Rockets and Continental Baseball being moved to Continental on Thursday.  The game was decided by the Pirates speed (13 stolen bases) and top of the order hitting (6/10 with 2 walks).  Continental (as visitors batting first) plated a pair of runs in the first to take the early 2-0 lead.  The Rockets shot back with a run in the bottom of the first and a pair of runs in the second to take a 3-2 lead.  Pirate Pitcher Jayden Pitney then held the Rockets scoreless the remainder of the game while the Pirate offense put on 3 more runs in the third, 2 in the fifth and 1 in the sixth.  Pirates 9-3 winner.
#2 batter Haden Streicher led the Pirates with 2 singles, 2 runs scored, 3 RBIs, and 3 stolen bases.  # 3 batter Quinn Tegenkamp hit a double and single, scored twice, drove in a run and stole a base.  #1 batter Jayden Pitney hit a single, scored 3 times, walked twice and stole 4 bases.  Reid Tegenkamp had 2 singles, scored a run, and stole 2 bases.  Devin Volkert hit a single.  Rhettik Bowers walked, stole 2 bases and scored a run.  Jackson Bidlack drove in a run and stole a base.  Kennan Bowers drove in 2 runs.
Jayden Pitney picked up the complete game win for the Pirates going 7 innings giving up 4 runs (2 earned) on 2 hits 9 strikeouts and 4 walks.  The Pirates committed 4 errors while the Rockets committed 2. Continental improves to 3-12 (2-3 PCL) and will travel to Ayersville on Friday.  Pandora drops to 3-9 (0-5 PCL).
Player of the Game: Jayden Pitney!
