As the 2014-2015 school year winds down to just days, many students are seeing the results of all their hard work over the past several months.
Rachelle Ward, an Interactive Media senior from Parkway, just returned from the Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California, where she placed sixth in the nation in the Digital Publishing competition! Kenneth Pinks-Liebert, a junior Network Systems student also from Parkway, competed in the PC Servicing and Troubleshooting contest, and although he didn’t place in the top ten, he earned his Microsoft Technology Associate certification.
Ross Siefker, a Welding senior from Continental has achieved one of the toughest goals in all of welding – his pipe certification! His classmate, Adam Stutz from Parkway won the AirGas Welding Challenge on May 7, beating out over one hundred other students and professional welders. As a matter of fact, this year’s Vantage Welding seniors have shattered the school record for the number of AWS welding certifications. The old record was 76…and as of today, this class of 13 students has 108!
There are 11 new Cosmetologists today, since the following Vantage students passed the Cosmetology State Board exam earlier this month: Kylee Bates (Continental), Caitlin Geckle (Continental), Jenny Holbrooks (Wayne Trace), Bailey Krol (Van Wert), Nathaniel Pruden (Paulding), Alexa Sikraji (Lincolnview), Ciara Thomas (Van Wert), Marisa Tijerina (Delphos Jefferson), Raven Trammel (Van Wert), Mackenzie Urton (Delphos Jefferson), and Courtney Waltmire (Van Wert).
The Carpentry class will be showing off their year-long home building project on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 10 am to 12 noon with an open house @ 12468 Richey Road in Van Wert. Come on out and take a look at the outstanding work done by Carpentry and Electricity students on this beautiful 2,000 square foot home.
The Vantage Senior Awards Assembly will be held @ 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 and the seniors will be dismissed after the ceremony. The last day for juniors will be Friday, May 22, 2015 and they will be dismissed at the end of the school day.
