Early Childhood Education Students Get Ready for Preschoolers!
Did you know that Vantage high school juniors and seniors who are preparing for a career in Early Childhood Education work directly with preschoolers? These high school students spend hours preparing age-appropriate lesson plans, conducting the lessons, and planning healthy and nutritious snacks for young students enrolled in the Vantage Preschool. The high school students also receive additional training in First Aid, CPR, Child Abuse, and common childhood illnesses. A major benefit for the children who attend the Vantage Preschool is the very low staff-child ratio. There is usually one high school “teacher” to every one or two preschoolers, supervised by the directors. Vantage Preschool provides developmentally appropriate activities for the total development of children ages three through five years old using the Early Learning Ohio Standards.
Picture young children climbing on the outdoor playground equipment… making play- doh…exploring new and different things…going to the Media center to hear one of Mrs. Knodel’s stories, or going down to the Building and Grounds lab to visit their small house maze…These are just a few of the fun activities going on for Vantage preschoolers. The children also experience hands on activities in language arts, math, kindergarten readiness, literature, and social skills.
Interested in sending your preschooler to Vantage? There are still a few spots open for the 2015-2016 school year. Preschool begins on September 14. There are two options for preschool classes this year. For both options, children must be 3 years old. There is a $25 non-refundable registration fee, which can be paid when you come in to complete the application. All supplies and field trips are included in fees.
The traditional half-day preschool session is the most popular choice. The morning preschool session meets Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. and is taught by Mrs. Marcia Osenga, Mrs. Donna Myers and the senior Early Childhood students. This session is for 3-5 year old children. The FULL DAY option is available from 8:30 a.m.–2:20 p.m., Monday through Thursday. This is a pre-kindergarten class for 4 and 5 year-olds. Preschoolers pack their lunch.
