It is always great to end the regular season on a winning streak, building momentum for tournament. Saturday night Continental High Boys Soccer came into the game at Lincolnview on a 5 game winning streak and looking to make it 6 in a row. Marking their last regular season game, Pirate Seniors Monty Rayle, Rhettik Bowers, Quinn Tegenkamp, Jackson Bidlack, Cameron Burgei, Tyson Clementz, and Michael Strickler provided experience that the Lancer could not match. The Lancers had 2 seniors and 13 freshmen on their 22 member team. It was all Pirates as the Pirated defense held the Lancers to a lone shot while the Pirates put in 6 goals. Hunter Varner put in the first Pirate goal with 31:39 left in the half off a Monty Rayle pass. Collin Hammond made it Pirates 2-0 with 27:50 left in the half. Rhettick Bowers scored to put the Pirates up 3-0 with 20:48 left in the half. Jackson Bidlack finished the Pirates first half scoring at 13:42. Pirates 4-0 at half. The only scoring in the second half was by Varner as he put in 2 goals with Parker Okuley getting an assist. Pirates 6-0 final.
Hunter Varner led the Pirates with 3 goals. Collin Hammond, Rhettik Bowers and Jackson Bidlack all scored one goal. Parker Okuley and Monty Rayle picked up assists. Jayden Pitney earned the shutout in goal for the Pirates making 1 save. The Pirates had a 13-1 advantage on shots on goal and tool 8 corner kicks.
Continental improves to 14-1-2 and will host Archbold on Saturday for an OHSAA DV Defiance District Sectional Semifinal. Lincolnview falls to 3-11-1.
