Village of Continental Council Meeting Minutes – June 26

The Village of Continental Council met in regular session at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers with the following members present: Roxie Knipp, Mike Varner, Tom Armey and Todd Bartley. Also present: Mayor Matt Miller, Administrator Kathy Prowant, Fiscal Officer Susan Darby and Solicitor Scott Welch.

Meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Minutes from previous meeting were approved and the listing of bills paid were approved as presented.

Then & Now Purchase Order for Kuhlman Corp. was approved by motion.

Old Business:

The generator at the well field is not expected until mid-July and we have received an extension by the EPA. Sidney Electric has done the trenching and installed the conduit. The concrete pad has been extended to 16’ X 20’ to allow room for maintenance. While we are pouring concrete we will pour a floor in the lean-to at the garage where the salt and stone are stored.

Third and Final reading of the Kurtis & Chelsea Brown annexation Ordinance held. Darby will record the annexation.

Finance Committee meeting was held after the June 12th meeting and it was recommended that Darby close the General Fund Savings account at the bank and transfer the funds to our STAR Ohio account to take advantage of higher interest rate.

New Business:

Building Permit for resident on East Ash to replace a section of shingles on their roof. Approved by motion

R&L Builders will be replacing the last old window in the Town Hall.

When ODOT prepped Main Street for paving two manholes were found to need some work. The first was at Sugar and Main and a new metal plate was welded to keep it in place by J&M Excavating and the second the village maintenance men will repair with quickcrete tomorrow morning.

Fencing at the Pond is complete and the Mayor encouraged everyone to drive by and check it out.

The Street Crack Sealing machine will be delivered tomorrow and the guys will receive training on how to use it and will begin when the weather breaks.

Darby presented the Village’s insurance proposal from the Ohio Plan. Council reviewed and moved to accept.

Next council meeting is Tuesday, July 10th at 7 p.m. with a Budget Hearing at 6:30 p.m.
