OHSAA NWDAB announced that Continental will be in the Kalida Division IV District Volleyball District. The Northwest District Division IV will see lots of changes in assignments as the District contracted from 6 Districts to 5. Fostoria and Napoleon are the only returning host sites while Kalida, Willard, and Bluffton University are now District hosts. Ottawa Glandorf, Findlay, Seneca East, and Van Wert are no longer Division IV District host sites.
The Kalida District is far reaching as it combines an assortment of teams from last year’s Van Wert and Ottawa Glandorf Districts. Putnam County rivals Continental, Columbus Grove, and Ottoville moved from Ottawa Glandorf to Kalida along with Lima Temple Christian, Lima Central Catholic, Lima Perry. Crestview, Delphos St Johns, Parkway, Fort Recovery, and St Henry moved over from the Van Wert District. Lincolnview and Wayne Trace are at Kalida after moving down from Division III. Of the group assigned to Kalida, St. Henry advanced the furthest in the tournament trail as they made it to the Van Wert District finals where State Runner-up New Bremen ended their season.
Other Putnam County League teams are going to 2 other districts. Leipsic and Miller City are headed to Napoleon. Leipsic was the Findlay District Champ last year. Ayersville, the Napoleon District Champ, will attempt to defend its crown. Kalida and Pandora Gilboa move to the Bluffton District where they are joined by Findlay defending District Champ Arlington and Van Wert District Champ New Bremen.
Last year the Northwest District was represented at State by 3 teams. New Bremen came out of the Southwest Regional (Clayton). Monroeville came out of the Northeast regional (Uniontown) while Tiffin Calvert represented the Northwest District (Elida). Tiffin Calvert and New Bremen made it a Northwest State final with Tiffin Calvert winning State. The Willard District has both Monroeville and Tiffin Calvert in their field.
Sectional games are held on October 15 and 17 at the better seeded site with District games being held on October 21 and 24.
