For a second night in a row Continental High participated in a MAXPrep DV ranked teams battling over Putnam County League leadership rights. Friday night it was Boys Soccer hosting Kalida. Saturday night, under the lights, it was the Lady Pirates wearing pink at Miller City for the annual Kickin’ Cancer battle. Miller City stands at #7 in DV while the Pirates check in at #12. A tough defensive game was decided with 12 minutes left in the first half when the Wildcats had a free kick just outside the top of the penalty box and lofted it to the opposite side where it was headed in the top corner of the goal. Wildcats 1-0. The Pirates had opportunities to tie the game but just could not find the back of the net. Wildcats 1-0 winner.
Mackenzie Niese took the loss in the goal for the Pirates. Continental falls to 8-1-2 (1-1 PCL) and will host #9 Archbold on Tuesday. Miller City improves to 7-1-2 (3-0-1 PCL).
From Coach Bidlack: The Lady Pirates suffer their first loss 0-1 at the hands of Miller City. Both teams competed very hard. Our Player of the Game ball goes out to Kinley Stegbauer for her incredible effort in the midfield tonight.
