February 16, 2018 by Karen Donaldson

Amber Logan and Kaitlyn Alvarado stepped out on the home court one last time as Continental High hosted Putnam County League rival Kalida in the final Girls Varsity home basketball action of the year. Logan leads the team in scoring by averaging almost 12 points per game while Alvarado checks in at almost 5 points per game. Kalida won the Junior Varsity prelude 31-21. The night started the home team way as the Pirates outscored the Wildcats 12-10 in the first. The Wildcats outpointed the Pirates by 4 in the second to head into the locker room with a 2 point lead 21-19. The Wildcats expanded their lead in the third to take a 5 point advantage in the fourth, 30-25 Wildcats after 3. The final quarter was all Wildcats as the Pirates only put 2 on the board. Kalida 38, Pirates 27 final.

Senior Amber Logan led the Pirates with 9 points while fellow Senior Kaitlyn Alvarado put in 5 points. Junior Brooke Bradford scored 2. Sophomores Addyson Armey had 8 points, Alex Hoeffel 3, Kerri Prowant 2. Logan and Hoeffel both hit a 3 pointer for the Pirates.

Continental moves to 4-18 (1—6 PCL) and will play Ayersville at Bryan High School on Wednesday at 6:15 in a OHSAA Sectional Semifinal. Kalida takes second place in the PCL with a 15-7 (6-1 PCL) record.
