Wildcats take Lady Pirates

Sports — It was cold outside Friday night and the Lady Pirates shooting matched the temperature as they shot only 17% in the Putnam County League game. The host Wildcats opened up a 5 point lead after 1, 11-6. The Pirates battled back to tie the game in the second at 13. The Pirates Amber Logan, who had put in 9 for the Pirates at this point, picked up her third foul. The Wildcats took advantage of this opportunity to go on a 10 point run to take a 23-13 lead. A Pirate basket before half made it 23-15 at half.

The third quarter had the Wildcats posting 7 point runs at the start and end of the quarter. The Wildcats open up a 15 point lead by putting in the first 7 points of the second half. A basket by Logan temporarily stopped the Wildcats. A Wildcat free throw was bettered by the Pirates when Alex Hoeffel put in a pair to make it 31-19 Wildcats. A basket by the Wildcats was met by a 5 point Pirate run (3 by Logan and a basket by Brooke Bradford) made it 33-24 Wildcats. The Wildcats put in the last 7 points of the quarter to make it 40-24 Miller City after 3.

Addyson Armey opened up the fourth quarter scoring for the Pirates to make it 40-26. A Wildcat 5 point run was stopped when Pirate Logan made a free throw Wildcats 45 Pirates 27. In the latter minutes of the game Miller City put in 6 to the Pirates 3 for a Wildcat 51, Pirate 30 final.

Amber Logan led the Pirates with 17 points while Addyson Armey put in 5. Brooke Bradford had 4 points while Alex Hoeffel and Catelyn Etter had 2 each. Amber Logan put in the lone 3 pointer for the Pirates. Continental shot 10 of 54 from the field.

Continental falls to 1-9 (0-2 PCL) and will host Crestview on Monday. Miller City moves to 5-8 (1-1 PCL).
