Plans for the 95th annual Turkey Supper at Christ United Methodist Church on South Main Street started in early Spring when members of the congregation planted rows of sweet corn along with their field corn. The above picture is the corn-husking crew who showed up to help in early August. After husking, the corn is washed, cooked, cut off the cobb and frozen. They plan for enough corn to serve 700+ meals!
Everyone is invited to the annual Turkey Supper on Saturday, November 23 at 4pm. Many changes have been made over years as technology in appliances has improved, food safety protocol has better guidelines and, well, sometimes one needs to do away with the “we’ve always done it that way”. One thing that has not changed is a quality Thanksgiving-style meal that is delicious – turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, cranberry salad, applesauce and pie . The supper is served drive-through only and cost is by donation. Everyone is invited!
