The eNews needs your help — At the time of the 2025 CHS Alumni Banquet, a hand-stitched quilt was brought to town with the hopes of finding out where it came from. We received the following email with the names that were sewn on the quilt blocks. Can anyone help us identify the group/club that would have made this quilt?
“Hoping you can help me locate the people who could use it as an historical piece for their group. These are the names stitched on squares…Arla Halbgewoks, Bessie Hill, Ada Friend, Violet Whitman, Rebekah Kitchen, Mattie Hersh, Ethel Johnson, Anna Treece, Jannita Hill, Blanch Donaldson, Mary Daub, Zola Mansfield, Rosa Hall and Mildred Wagner. Could there have been a women’s group located in Continental with those ladies as members?”

Mary Mowery says
Mary Daub, my Grandmother, was one of the North Mt. Zion quilting group. I would say these are the ladies of this group. Especially in the 1940-50’s.

I remember Blanch. She used to live beside the carry out.

What about the Putnam County museum as a treasure from the Continental community. We recognize those names as former Village residents.
