Defiance came to Cove Tuesday night and brought the D. The Bulldogs held the Pirates to a single made free throw in the first as they opened up a 17-1 lead. The Pirates came out and scored the first 3 points in the second quarter to make it 17-4 and outscored the Bulldogs 9-7 in the period for a 24-10 Bulldog lead at half. The Pirates were held to one field goal in the first half. The third quarter was all Bulldog as they outscored the Pirates 15-4 for a 39-14 break score. A fairly even fourth gave a final score of 50 – 24 Defiance win. Defiance held Continental to 5 field goals while the Pirates were 13 for 18 from the line.
McKenna Scott lead the Pirates with 8 points while Alivia Homier scored 7 (one 3 pointer). Ashley Mansfield scored 4, Alex Quigley 2, Jade Zachrich 2 and Blair Tegenkamp 1.
The Lady Pirates travel to Ayersville on December 29 for the Ayersville Holiday Tournament. The Pirates will take on the Pilots in the second game on Monday with an approximate start time of 8 pm. Finals and Consolation games for the Tournament will be held on December 30.
