August 9, 2026 by Adam Donaldson Leave a Comment

CLOVERDALE – David Lee Dangler, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Defiance, Ohio on October 10, 1946, David was the cherished son of the late Kenneth “Bud” and Ruth (Hash) Dangler.

David was a beacon of kindness and humor, always quick to share a laugh or lend a helping hand. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he was a source of boundless love and support to his wife, Cindy (Moore-Justice), with whom he shared a beautiful marriage since July 12, 2008. Together, they create a loving home filled with warmth and laughter.

He is remembered with love by his children, Scott (Holly) Dangler of Oakwood, Chandra (Terry) Nuveman of Ottawa, Meggan (Ben) Gerding of Lake View, Cory (Brittany) Justice of Cloverdale, and Lee (Natashia) Justice of Grover Hill. David’s legacy continues through his 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his brothers, Klee (Carolyn) Dangler and Garrett Dangler.

David’s life was marked by service and dedication. After graduating from Oakwood High School and the Allied Institute of Technology in Chicago, he served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1966, where he was stationed at Fort Belvoir in Virginia as an instructor. Following his military service, David embarked on a fulfilling career as an industrial machinery mechanic, a profession he dedicated himself to from 1966 until his retirement in 2023.

David was an active member of his community, participating in organizations such as the Jaycees and the Kiwanis Club. His involvement demonstrated his commitment to making the world a better place, and his contributions will be long remembered.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Ruth Dangler, his sister, Jeanneanne (Carl) Helsel, a baby sister at birth, his daughter, Dannette Dangler Alvarado, and a son-in-law, James Alvarado. Though they have passed, their memories remain alive in the hearts of those who loved them.

The funeral service for David will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, 610 Walnut Street, Oakwood with Rev. Stan Harmon officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his honor, reflecting David’s lifetime of service and generosity.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Sincere Hospice Care for the compassionate care provided to David. “Forever in our Hearts,” his memory will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. Condolences may be expressed www.loveheitmeyer.com
