The field was wet and soggy to start following a pregame storm. Continental (9-5-1, 3-1 PCL) hosted Kalida (11-2-2, 4-0 PCL) in a battle of PCL undefeateds on Tuesday night.
Kalida opened the scoring early with the only goal by Makenna Richey in the first half. The second half had more twists and turns than a good mystery novel. With 28:14 to play Kalida opened up a two goal lead on a score by Makenna Vorst. McKenna Scott got the Pirates on the board at 24:03 to make it 2-1. Less than 3 minutes later, 20:32, Scott found the back of the net again to tie the score at 2-2. With 10:34 Kalida took the lead for good with a goal by Brittany Kahle. Scoring was finished out with Kalida’s Jackie Gardner putting one in for the final Wildcats 4, Pirates 2.
Emma Recker and Ashley Mansfield did an excellent job in the goal battling a slippery ball and wet turf.
The Pirate girls host Delphos St Johns on Saturday Oct 11 at 1 pm. This will be Senior night.
