
Continental – Richard R. (Dick) Parrish, 93, of Continental died 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born August 5, 1923 in Paulding County to Clyde and Blanche (Coder) Parrish. On July 4, 1945 he married Helen L. Fitzwater who survives in Continental.
Dick is also survived by his three children: Douglas (Glola) Parrish of Van Wert, Pamela (Joe) Morisy of Defiance and James (Terri) Parrish of Westerville; 7 grandchildren: Carrie (Justin) Waid, Kendra (Todd) Clementz, David (Kelly) Parrish, Elizabeth (Milan) Patel, Kathleen (Justin Sarmento) Morisy, Andrew (Lindsay) Parrish and Rachel (Daniel Dalton) Parrish; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother: Charles Parrish of Ft. Wayne, IN and a sister: Rubye Hammersmith of Defiance. He is also preceded in death by two brothers: Donald and John Parrish.
Dick was a retired auto salesman. He was a member of Dupont Church of the Brethren. Dick was also a member of the John Paulding Historical Society; Oakwood Library; Gideon’s International Paulding Co., Gleaners Oakwood Arbor Society, National Independent Auto Dealers, Dealers Alliance of Ohio, past president of Youth for Christ in Defiance, and past president of Auglaize-Brown school board.
A funeral service will begin 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Dupont Church of the Brethren, Dupont, with Pastor Terry Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Oakwood. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood, as well as an hour prior to service at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to Gideons International, Putnam County Hospice, or Defiance Inpatient Hospice.
