Rockets 51, Lady Pirates 42

February 1, 2015 by Karen Donaldson

Saturday saw the Continental Pirates crawling (if you have ever been to Cape Kennedy and seen the crawlers you will get the reference) to the Launch Pad in Pandora. Although the Rockets made the first basket the Pirates rallied back by scoring the next 8 points. At the end of 1 the Lady Pirates were leading 10-7. The second quarter had the Rockets pull into a 12 all tie, but at halftime the Pirates had a 17-16 advantage. The third had the two teams trading the lead 9 times with the quarter final being 28-27 Rockets. The Rockets had a pair of 8 points runs in the fourth quarter to put the game away as they scored 23 in the fourth to the Pirates 15. Rockets 51 Pirates 42.

Leading the Pirates was Senior McKenna Scott with 23 points (4 three pointers) and Jade Zachrich with 8 (unofficially, I had Jade with 10 rebounds). Amber Logan had 6, Ashley Mansfield 3 and Emma Recker 2.

The Lady Rockets improve to 4-14 (2-3 in the PCL) while the Lady Pirates drop to 3-14 (1-5 in the PCL). The Rockets also won the Junior Varsity game 21-17.

The Lady Pirates next travel to Paulding to take on the Lady Panthers on Saturday February 7 with a 1 pm JV start.
